The Starlight Club 10: Love, Romance and Murder in Anaheim by Joe Corso is the story of June and Joey, two people who met under some unfortunate circumstances that led to Joey developing feelings for her, but time was never on their side. Protecting June from a threat led to Joey falling in love with her, but when he had to leave her behind, he was devastated. But when he finds out that her life is once more in danger, Joey is sent to protect her again. However, this time June is different. She is not the same, there is a sadness inside her that is stopping her from reaching out to him or let him take care of her. What can Joey do to break down the walls she has built around her heart? How can he protect her from danger this time?
The Starlight Club 10: Love, Romance and Murder in Anaheim by Joe Corso is a wonderful novel of love, loss, acceptance, and determination. From the very detailed descriptions to a narrative as smooth as butter, this novel had everything that you look for in crime/action fiction. The plot was well-constructed, the characters were well-developed and the flow was amazing. The chemistry between June and Joey was intense; their relationship needed some time, which I’m glad the author gave them. Nothing was rushed; they were each given enough time to simply grow as a person and then try to make their relationship work. Although Joey had the upper hand in the relationship by being the protector, he never acted as if he was superior in any way. They respected each other and cherished each other, which made this story even more entertaining for me.
