The Stain of Past Connexions by Eluned McRae is a thriller set in the south part of England and in Scotland/ the Hebrides. Andrew is a barrister, running his estate with his friend, Brodee, a horse trainer and breeder. Nene comes to stay but nobody must know she is there. She is facing serious danger and hiding powerful secrets. Only Paul, Andrew’s friend, knows what they are. As things start to heat up between the friends, the stains and shadows of past 'connexions' begin to become clear, tracing a path to the Outer Hebrides and laying bare all manner of secrets and lies. Murder, espionage, sexual assault; it all comes out and it all comes back to haunt those who thought they had left it behind.
The Stain of Past Connexions by Eluned McRae is a gripping tale of betrayal, friendship, murder and more. It starts strong and carries on in the same vein, picking up the pace as the story marches on relentlessly. The plot is involved; take your attention away for a second and you’ll be struggling to keep up. However, it is a good plot, nothing too unique about it but a well-written story nonetheless. You get to know the characters well, with plenty of detail coming up throughout the story as the secrets and the lies start to unfold. The action is steady, the story is steady, the pace is kept up throughout as it winds its way towards the end. This is a good story. I read it all the way through and enjoyed it. I would recommend it to fans of the thriller genre.
