The Secretive Wife: More Than a Wife Series Book 2 by Jennifer Peel is a romance novel set in the present time. Delaine, a beautiful online magazine writer, is happily married to an attractive landscaper, Peter, a would-be priest who turned his back on his religious calling because of her. Things are going fine for the couple except for two things: her mother-in-law and the secret that she keeps. Things come to a head when her secret comes out and their life is turned upside down but Delaine has a darker secret that not only threatens her reputation but also her marriage to the only man she wants in her life.
Jennifer Peel's The Secretive Wife is a highly entertaining romance novel between two completely different personalities and the chemistry between them is simply dynamic. While Delaine grows up feeling unloved, Peter has a close knit, loving family and things are quite normal except for Delaine's difficult relationship with her mother-in-law. Sounds common enough but many things about Delaine are not what they seem. Jennifer Peel's descriptive writing style is smooth without the unnecessary frills that one might expect in a love story and she's able to come up with a plot that is both intriguing and unique. And as Delaine's secrets slowly unravel, the pace of the story seems to quicken or it could be that the reader's anticipation to get to the bottom of everything hastens. As such, The Secretive Wife is a novel that you won't put down until you finish reading the last page of the book.
