Parenting is undergoing massive changes depending on the generation and times. In James Pedersen's The Rise of the Millennial Parents: Parenting Yesterday and Today, the author discusses the complexity of parenting style and methods and how it affects the growth of a child, positively and negatively. Reading this book will benefit a general audience rather than a certain age group. From the different parenting styles and home environments that form the basis of children's behavior, this book gives valuable insights on parenting and tips to improve. It will also help readers to reflect on their own parenting style and see the areas which can be improved.
Parenting styles are evident from the way a child reacts and behaves. Each parent is different and in this book Pederson speaks about various parenting styles that give parents a better understanding of how to contribute to the positive growth of their children. The author also speaks about how educators can work with different types of parents and their parenting methods to enhance the development of children both academically and socially.
I found the book very insightful and useful to parents living in this evolving society. I would recommend this book to all parents and educators dealing with parents, and also to those who are working with children for a wider understanding of behavioral patterns. The book is well written and it does not divert from the theme. The author has done a lot of research before putting down the facts.
