The Republican Party, Apostles Of Failure, Unfit To Govern is a work of non-fiction focused on government and politics in the United States, and was penned by author Richard J. Weisberg. With its specific focus put on the policy decisions involving economics, the volume tracks the prior ‘American System’ of commerce, which once had America very high on the list of economic world powers, compared to the newly-emerged Republican plans of the last half-century, in which a fantasy of low taxation for the wealthy has led the country into inequality, privatization, and turmoil. In his treatise on the issues, Weisberg attempts to model a future solution from the successes of the past.

Knowing very little about the history of American economics, I found this volume to be a thorough education on the topic, as well as an eye-opening read for the twists and turns that have led the USA into its current state under the presidency of Donald Trump. Author Richard J. Weisberg treats the subject matter fairly with no undue political bias, looking at clear financial facts and tracking the genuine decline of the American economy and market since the mid-1970s. The writing style is clear and concise, with plenty of additional information that helps to glean a full understanding of the subject matter at hand, and well-explained examples from recent and 19th-century history that make a convincing argument for Weisberg’s case. Overall, The Republican Party, Apostles Of Failure, Unfit To Govern is an insightful and thought-provoking read for all.

The Republican Party, Apostles Of Failure, Unfit To Govern by Richard J. Weisberg is a non-fiction book with commentary and analysis of the Republican political party of the United States including its history. In this book, Richard has organized the contents into various major sections, each of which contains several smaller chapters or headings. The main sections of the book are divided as follows: Economics 101, the need for government regulation in a free market, industrialized economies of the modern world, a brief economic and regulatory history of the United States through the year 2000, George W. Bush, his government, policies, and impact, Barack Obama and his policies, ideology, and governmental rule and law during his tenure as President of America, socioeconomics of radical free-market fundamentalism, a conclusion, and a brief epilogue which discusses the election of Donald Trump as President and its background and impact. There are a glossary and voluminous notes at the end of the book as well.

The Republican Party, Apostles Of Failure, Unfit To Govern is a well-written book and an exhaustive commentary that discusses the history, background, and evolution of the Republican party, its trends and patterns, the extreme right-wing movement and their influence, the rise of white Christian nationalism in politics, and its fundamental social and economic viewpoints and influences in politics as well as society. Needless to say, the book digs deep and dissects the fundamental makeup and the role of government in life and society at all levels. Richard writes very knowledgeably and provides plenty of facts and references. I also appreciated how he has touched upon the fundamental influences of race, religion, and gender in this analysis as well. Overall, this is a great book for someone who really wants to understand the Republican ideology, history, and system of government.

The Republican Party, Apostles Of Failure, Unfit To Govern by Richard J. Weisberg is a non-fiction political history and opinion work, chronicling the author's theories on one of the two major political parties in the United States. This massive and comprehensive book initially outlines and then digs deep into the economic ideologies of the GOP (both past and present), and the potential consequences of the implementation of their economic strategies—namely, the desire for a wholly free and unconstrained free market with the oft-associated Libertarian view of the abolition of most government agencies. The book then goes into the economic history of the United States, followed by the prior two presidencies; offices held by George W. Bush and Barack Obama. These are fleshed out with the collapse and after-effects of the market, which resulted in the recession, and how the contrasting application of ideologies differed in and impacted the economy in polar opposite ways. The book concludes with the current administration, led by Donald Trump, after offering an intensive, in-depth analysis of the social disruption and the GOP's notion of utopia, as well as its crushing impact.

The Republican Party, Apostles Of Failure, Unfit To Govern by Richard J. Weisberg is not for the faint of heart. I went into this book already afraid of the current state of affairs and closed the back end of this tome having to sleep with the lights on. All right, not really. But it absolutely drives home both the potential pitfalls that may still lie ahead, as well as the well-worn path that got us here to begin with. Weisberg writes with an intelligent running narrative that is easy to follow, backed up by exhaustive proof with references that speckle the pages on nearly every line. I was most intrigued by the subsections on income inequality and the individual ideals of specific members of congress (primarily the privatization of virtually everything, which is a terrifying notion). The people who need to read this probably will not, and that's a shame as Weisberg's thoughts have solid merit. That said, there's no question that this book and the references it carries could thrash any argument the party has and continue to put forth...if only they'd listen.

The Republican Party, Apostles of Failure, Unfit to Govern by Richard J. Weisberg is a study of the negative impact the current government policies have had on the economic condition of the USA. The author strongly believes that everything about the current party in power is working against the American people. The author is of the opinion that the government is no longer working for the masses but against them. The government stopped being a democracy a long time ago and the author supports his ideas and argument by using the history of the country to explain why he thinks this is going in the wrong direction for the people in general. Talking about tax, the “American System” and how these things are affecting the economy of the country, the discussion on the recent Great Recession is by far the most accurate and the scariest in its accuracy. The author definitely gives the reader plenty to think about.

What really stood out to me is that the author took his time to research everything, increase his knowledge so much that he is an expert on it, and then share his ideas with the reader. This is incredible. The author has used the simplest of words to convey his ideas and his thoughts so that it is easier for the reader to understand. I really appreciate how the author takes his time to demonstrate his research, bring out facts and make it easier for the reader to reference everything. Nothing is just speculation on the author's part; he has done due diligence to make sure that the reader is given hard facts that will enlighten them and make them aware of the current economic situation of the country. Well-researched and well-written!

The Republican Party, Apostles of Failure, Unfit to Govern by Richard J. Weisberg is a book that caught my attention right from the book cover, designed with an image that speaks volumes and that is as humorous as it is symbolic. The author opens with a powerful premise, one that describes a disturbing truth: the giant that has always been the United States is on the path to a fatal fall. The author demonstrates how the advent to power of the Republican Party has slowed the economy with rising extremism and obstacles to a viable economy, including low taxes for the rich and obstruction of important decisions by the government. The author walks readers through key moments in history and demonstrates with intelligence and compelling arguments the factors that contributed to America's greatness and that are shunned by the Republican government.

Richard J. Weisberg has written a compelling political commentary, giving an analysis of the contemporary American political conundrum with intelligence and forensic clarity. Here is a book that will compel every reader to ask the question: Is the Republican agenda really patriotic? After reading this book, the answer to the question will stun readers. The Republican Party, Apostles of Failure, Unfit to Govern explains the incompetence of the Republicans and the reason behind it. The book is written in excellent prose, in a voice that's compelling, and using arguments that engage the reader and invite them to look past the obvious. This is a book that will certainly inspire a new kind of social consciousness in readers.
