The Promise of Justice: A Love Story by J. Jaye Gill is a compelling contemporary romance about forgiveness and justice. This engrossing drama centers on Regina, who endured a terrible crime but kept it secret from everyone, even her loved ones, for seven years. She decides to leave town with no regrets, but her conscience won't let her live a comfortable life. She realizes that she has to deal with her past. But that is easier said than done, as Regina soon finds out. When her wounds are opened again, she deals with the fallout that is almost as bad as the pain that caused it all. The other major character is Justice McCallahan, who tries to recover from a broken engagement. When he meets Regina, he faces issues he'd rather leave buried.
There are some surprises along the way in this absorbing story. You will fall in love with these imperfect but all too human characters, and you may find yourself in them somewhere or in people you know in your own life. This drama is for those who love romance with dark shadows. The plot is well-developed, the pace steady and even, and you want to know how this story ends. The story can be emotional and will pull you in from the first few pages. The unexpected also keeps you invested. If you're into intense reads that satisfy you, ride with The Promise of Justice by J. Jaye Gill.
