He knows it is his duty to take the throne, but it is not something he wants to do. I enjoyed the fantasy elements in this book and the characters were well written. The author has created an interesting world and I could really picture it as I read. The plot moved at a good pace and I wanted to keep reading to find out what happened next. I think this would appeal to paranormal fantasy readers and even epic fantasy fans. I would definitely recommend it.

Paul recognizes the prince, and Dante vows to be John’s shield and blade. John leaves the farm to become a priest, while Paul begins training Dante to maintain the farm and defeat Falco when war will eventually erupt. Unfortunately, Dante has fallen in love with John and knows his priesthood means celibacy for life.

There were many times that I forgot Dante was more than a man. I felt his inner turmoil as the story unfolded. He kept his status hidden for so long that I watched his confidence waver as well. The emotions in the story are presented realistically. Jealousy, anger, envy, desire, and fear make every character come alive. I was able to see the scenery through the details Willis provided. This is the first book in the Traibon Family Series, and it sets the background of the political aspects of the Church, Tower, House, and the Court. Each represents significant factions of humans and daemons. The Assassin’s Guild interested me the most. They allied with nobody and threw a wrench into the entire story, making this a suspense-filled fantasy romance. Any reader that enjoys a well-developed character fantasy story filled with emotion and action should read The Prince’s Priest.
