The Nameless One is a short, erotic horror story written by Kathryn Meyer Griffith. Julian had never before had such a libido, nor had women gone out of their way to touch or bump into him, their eyes drawn towards him like a moth to a flame. Or at least not that Laura had noticed. Her world revolved around him, they had even specialised in the same fields of Egyptology. This alteration had only started when they uncovered a lost tomb; it had rekindled a passion they hadn't felt for ten years. She had written books on the magic of Egypt, but she was more convinced this was some manner of bewitchment. They had been warned not to look for the tomb, and the closer they were to reaching their goal the stranger things became, until there came a point of no return.
For such a short story there is some great attention to the myth building and scene setting. You get a good feel for the characters, and the discovery of the tomb thought to belong to the Nameless One. It has all the markers of a good ghost story, an ancient curse, a nameless force, and hidden secrets. When I saw this was an erotica horror story, I thought it could go either way, but I was pleasantly surprised. Laura is a strong female character willing to do whatever it takes to silence an ancient curse, and it costs her dearly. Any erotic parts are related to the story, but not central to it. It is more a horror tale of ancient curses, revenge, and sacrifice. The Nameless One is a riveting read, with a good plot and a great atmosphere. I look forward to reading more books from Kathryn Meyer Griffith in the future.
