Patricia Catacalos holds a BA in Theatre from Seton Hill University and a MA in Theatre from the University of Denver. Years ago, when still single, she acted in and directed plays in the Philadelphia area but suffered the fate of many artists, struggling financially. So, she entered a career in sales but her creative spirit needed to express itself. So approximately eight years ago, she started writing historical romances. Many of the historical romances have a subgenre of mystery and/or the paranormal. She discovered that writing historical romances and ultimately, mystery/intrigue is her passion. Currently, she has written twenty novels and novellas.
She has been happily married for over twenty-eight years to a loving and supportive man with a Greek heritage (which influenced a couple of her novels) and they live in southern New Jersey.

The Mystery of Her: Zane Brothers Detective Series Book 1 is the story of the three brothers - Zackery, Evan and Noah - and their detective agency. Lady Kiera Everett wants to hire the brothers to prove that her father was murdered by his nurse, Nyla Breen, whom she believes poisoned him and forced him to include her in his will with a substantial amount of money. Kiera’s only provision is that the Zanes include her in the investigation, which is strongly against the brothers' wishes, especially Zackery. There are several things going on at once in The Mystery of Her and all help to connect the pieces of the crime. There are two murderers running around Whitechapel, London in 1888, and we, the readers, are not privy to their identities, only their crimes, until the last exciting twists reveal all. The Mystery of Her is really a story you will need to read without knowing any more information, which would only serve to spoil the plot.
I found it impossible to put down The Mystery of Her; it is that good. The Zane brothers are three very different and very likeable detectives, and Kiera was the perfect distraction and assistant. I am extremely anxious for the next Zane Brothers book. Patricia Catacalos tells the story without violence, sex or obscenity, but instead includes light romance, suspense, and excitement in just a plain, good, historical mystery book. I cannot say enough good things about The Mystery of Her, the Zane Brothers, Kiera, and the rest of the characters that made this book so special. Read it; you won’t be disappointed.
