The Man In The Chair is a work of fiction in the action, government thriller, and espionage sub-genres, and was penned by author Mason Latimer. In this world of secret agents, dubious missions, and high-level action thrills, we find ourselves with a unique protagonist who has a lot more to deal with than most. Dak Wilson has been paralyzed from the waist down after losing his father in an accident, so the disappearance of his only true friend thereafter sets him off with a fresh determination to find out what happened. And so Dak enters the world of the Global Agency Unit, only to find that overcoming his physical disability is just the tip of his problems.
Author Mason Latimer delivers an excellent work of action and thriller fiction which will be sure to tick all the boxes for fans of the genre. First, the sleek approach to dynamic action and dialogue scenes gives the work a slick, technological feel, but this is often undercut with moments of gritty realism to keep readers grounded in the genuine struggle and danger of the piece. Then there’s Dak, who is delivered with an empathetic and inspiring narrative that steers away from using his disability as a gimmick, and faithfully represents that anyone can be a hero given the right motivation. What results is an action novel that pushes the typical boundaries of its ilk, and overall I’d highly recommend The Man In The Chair to action and thrillers fans as well as readers who enjoy diverse and representative fiction.
