Jewels is a phoenix who saw it all, yet she rose! The Making of a Woman by Jewels A. and Marlayna Glynn was a story of courage, grief, losses, heartbreaks, failures, strengths, and love in the strangest places. I read this memoir with a hand over my heart. It was raw, intense, unconventional, honest, tear-jerking, thought-provoking, educative, and filled with hope. I cried, squirmed in discomfort, cheered her successes, and got angry with a few people. This book is for everyone who thinks themselves unworthy, alone, failures, or outcasts. Jewels said that you are not beyond redemption, but you must want liberation and do the work. Jewels’ personality was her most powerful ally, even at her worst. She was an all-or-nothing type, making her stick to every transformative decision she made. She gained my respect, and I wish her more happiness and fulfillment.
