The Luckiest Boy in the World is written by Patrick McBride and Dennis McBride. The authors have taken a subject that is dear to any young boy’s heart, and even many adults' hearts, and written how baseball, basketball, and football can help youngsters find themselves and learn to be better people, especially when working behind the scenes in the dugout and clubhouse with the players. The authors have written with such sensitivity, care, and honesty without destroying anyone’s good names or letting secrets out when they had access to the locker rooms, dugouts, clubhouse, etc. when working with the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers, and Milwaukee Bucks. The book takes the reader on a beautiful trip, both historical and personal. All the characters--famous, infamous, and just ordinary people--have a very important place in the telling of this wonderfully insightful and thought-provoking story.
The pictures of families, players, and people who meant a lot to the two authors are absolutely delightful and bring everything into perspective, showing that good things can happen and depend on people themselves. The coaches and managers play an important part. The Cubbies Boys help the club managers, coaches, and team managers who make sure that the teams move like a well-oiled machine. The book is a delightful inspiring read and well worth a second and third read because of the information, history, and insights into the life of authors Patrick and Dennis McBride, and how they faced the problems they did. It makes us realize that if you look around there is always a way out and a way to help yourself with good hard work. Thank you for a delightful book. I really enjoyed The Luckiest Boy In The World, especially the photos.
