Windy, a young wind, is eager to go to earth and be a real wind. Although his parents refuse his request because he is not yet ready, the Little Wind remains adamant. Eventually, Mama Wind and Papa Wind heed his request and decide to start his training early. They arrive at a flower-filled meadow high in the mountain, and Papa Wind starts by showing Little Wind how to gently pluck a petal from a tulip. After several attempts, Windy manages to pull a petal. Filled with pride and euphoria, Windy rips up a whole tulip, and in the twinkling of an eye, he speeds down the mountain toward a small town by the sea. Down in the town market, Susie and her mother are shopping when a whirlwind hits. Windy soon learns that his actions have great consequences on humans and everything. The Little Wind by Natalie Astra is a story about friendship and responsibility.
The Little Wind is a beautiful picture book with an entertaining and impactful story. I especially loved its plot because Windy kept me captivated by his well-intended actions, which only worsened the mess he made. I loved the characters of Windy and Susie, and I appreciated the contrast in their emotional intelligence, given that one is human and the other is a young wind who had never interacted with humans. I also loved the beautiful pictures in this story. The pictures, also by the author, were so colorful and expressive, and they added more life and beauty to the story. I loved the life lessons in this little book. The Little Wind by Natalie Astra is a lovely blend of entertainment and education, and I highly recommend it for children.
