The Legend of Koji: The Maiden of Lodain is a work of fiction in the science fiction, fantasy, and adventure subgenres, and was penned by author J. R. Ryan. Written as part of The Known Universe Series, the work is best suited to the young adult reading audience but will surely be enjoyed by adult readers seeking a vibrant and enjoyable read. Since the end of the Jarvinis War, relative peace has settled across the universe, so when there is a sudden rumor that an enemy from the old times is resurfacing, a group known as the Templars vows to rise up and vanquish it.
Author J. R. Ryan produces a sublime blend of fantasy and science fiction to deliver a universally appealing work in The Legend of Koji: The Maiden of Lodain. Readers seeking a new world to immerse themselves in need to look no further than the intricacies, original concepts, and fascinating characters of the Known Universe. What begins as a sweeping overview of this incredible place and its history – which in itself is an extraordinary feat of worldbuilding – slowly turns inward to explore its characters more deeply and emotionally, resulting in a band of heroes that all readers will root for. The dialogue, too, was excellent, serving to add more exposition to the plot in interesting ways that don’t call for a wall of text to get each new concept across. This is in line with the young adult brand of storytelling and keeps the content immediately engaging and exciting. Overall, I would highly recommend The Legend of Koji to fans of sci-fi and fantasy blends that are expertly paced and very well written indeed.
