Author Biography

I grew up illiterate with dyslexia, graduating high school reading at a second-grade level. Ashamed and frustrated, I acted out in school until Mrs. Beckwick, my high school teacher, changed my life. I later joined an adult literacy program where I learned to read. Reading and writing are still tricky for me. I’ve become a storyteller and author, motivated by my children and grandchildren. Struggling to read doesn’t mean you’re unintelligent—it means you learn differently. Never give up; there’s help and tools available to thrive.
