Pat Williams, the renowned vice president of the Orlando Magic, shares his inspirations in leadership in his book, Leadership in Excellence Devotional. Whether it’s at home, work, or school, everybody is a leader and has potential to make a difference. In this work, Williams puts together an incredible collection of stories, quotes, and tips from world renowned leaders and public figures such as Elie Wiesel, Steve Jobs, and Bobby Bowden. Williams organizes the book into seven vital aspects of leadership: Vision, Communication, People Skills, Character, Competence, Boldness and A Serving Heart. When you thought it couldn’t get better, it does! Pat Williams ties every short story in with a daily Scripture to encourage you throughout your day.
This book was truly rewarding to read. As a leader myself, I am constantly searching for other ways to become better at leadership, and Pat William’s Leadership in Excellence Devotional helped me achieve just that. I found myself challenged and convinced, and by the end of the book I was encouraged to go out into the world and apply what I learned. I could not imagine the amount of research that Williams must have done to make this book possible, but I am glad he did. Everybody can benefit from reading this book. Though Williams is the executive vice president of a national basketball team, he is very real and transparent, sharing his victories and losses in respect to leadership. By reading a page every morning before you head off to work, you will find yourself becoming strengthened by Scripture, empowered by leaders, and overall an enhanced leader.
