Being the last Lumenian, Lilla must now soon learn how to control her powers as she is the last hope the Seven Galaxies have in their fight for survival.

Although it is primarily a fantasy novel, The Last Lumenian also has elements of sci-fi sprinkled on top of it. S. G. Blaise does well to capture the mindset of an angsty teenager thrown into the murky world of politics and laden with the burden of saving the world. My favorite aspect of The Last Lumenian was the banter between Lilla and her friends. The dialogue seems organic and feels realistic. The pacing of the plot is a little slow for the first two-thirds of the book and only picks up the pace in the final stretch. However, the worldbuilding is top-notch. Overall, I enjoyed it and would recommend it to teenagers and young adults alike as well as fans of epic fantasy and sci-fi.

However, things took a different turn with the arrival of a Teryn General called Callum. He was smart, handsome, and hellbent on protecting the universe from an evil that wanted to destroy everything. Somehow, she might be the one who could end a war that could end everything. But she would have to accept herself first. Could she do it?

The Last Lumenian is a young adult novel that would be enjoyed by readers of all ages. Everything about this novel screamed entertainment. From its cover to its content, it was apparent to me that S.G. Blaise thought of everything to make it a success. Lilla's growth impressed me. She started the story as a girl who was angry at the world (but mostly her father) and wasn't happy with what she had. However, as the story progressed, she gained maturity, and that made the story even more interesting for me. I loved how her relationships didn't define her but helped her grow. Her friendship with Glenna humbled her, and the arrival of Callum made her question and accept things. She was wholesome, believable, and a heroine to look forward to. Fantastic and brilliantly composed!

A great story in the time of self-quarantine, The Last Lumenian by S.G. Blaise is an epic novel about responsibility and coming of age. Though she is a princess, Lilla does not fit the typical patrician royalty as she is a rebel at heart. Yet for the benefit of her kingdom, she tries to navigate the protocols that go with her royal duties and the politics that accompany it. With such responsibilities, it is understandable why she would rebel, for she is in her teenage years, and she wants nothing more than to simply enjoy her youth. As if her duties are not enough, she also has to contend with learning to control a latent magical gift she inherited from her mother. The biggest trigger to her rebelliousness is the oppressive treatment of refugees in her monarchical planet, to which her father, the king, turns a blind eye. Then she meets the charming Callum, the messenger of an apocalyptic battle that will doom the galaxies.

The Last Lumenian captivates as a great contemporary fantasy sci-fi story. It breaks the mold of the helpless princess stereotypes who are dependent on circumstances and Prince Charmings to improve their lot in life. Lilla is a free-spirited princess who knows what she wants, yet she has enough sense to understand that her position is an essential tool if she wants to improve the conditions of the marginalized sector on her home planet. S.G. Blaise has created a story that will grow on you and will keep you busy turning pages. It makes you curious to find out what happens next. In real life, many of us are fascinated with the lives of members of royal families, and you'll have this same fascination with Lilla and her future. Consider this book as part of your reading list to keep you in good company while you stay at home.

The Last Lumenian by S.G. Blaise is a coming-of-age fantasy novel about a princess with an attitude. The fresh character of Lilla is a fighter at heart, trying to set refugees free. And then there is gorgeous Callum who tells of another war going on between two archgods that puts Lilla's home and the Seven Galaxies in jeopardy. Lilla has the power of magic but must work to harness it and destroy the dark god of Chaos and Destruction before he discovers her. She is the last Lumenian, and he is out to bring her down.

S.G. Blaise's world-building skills are amazing, and the author comes across as a natural writer. Immediately you are transported into the world Blaise has created, and you live out this fantasy story along with Lilla, Glenna, Arrow, and the other cast of characters. You could definitely consider this a suspenseful novel as well, and it is well-paced, unpredictable, and filled with danger and conflict. Lilla is trying to recover from the loss of her mother, but life has other ideas. Her father is showing the strain of it all too, and Lilla is left to manage things on her own. She really doesn't want all of this heavy responsibility, yet finds it dropped into her lap. Will she rise to the occasion?

This scenario needs a hero, and Lilla just may be the answer the universe needs; if only she knew who to trust. I like how the author portrays Lilla's internal struggles with herself and the external ones with the other characters. I also like how different people can set their differences aside in a united cause, and the romantic aspect is nice too. The dialogue is engaging, the plot unique. YA fans are bound to fall in love with The Last Lumenian and its characters.

When I first heard about the book The Last Lumenian, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it because it was from a new author that I hadn't heard about before. However, S.G. Blaise has created an incredible story that keeps the reader interested from beginning to end. After reading a few pages in, I knew I would have to limit myself, or else I would have finished the whole book in one day. The fast-paced writing style and descriptive scenes make you feel like you are part of their world. Following Lilla's journey made me recognize that when we believe in ourselves, we can discover an inner power and strength we didn't realize we had before. She follows her heart and fights for what she believes in during a time when that seemed difficult to do. The story was a wonderful blend of adventure, fantasy, science fiction, and a splash of romance. Although this story might seem like it is for a younger audience, everyone can find something to love about it. I hope there are many more books to the series coming out soon!

I highly suggest checking out this book. You will not be disappointed!
