The Lady of the Mirrored Lake is a work of fiction in the paranormal, dark fantasy, and romance subgenres. It is best suited to mature readers owing to scenes of graphic sexual nature and the use of explicit language throughout. Penned by author Jennifer Ivy Walker, in this darkly thrilling retelling of the legend of Tristan and Isolde, we follow the warrior priestess Issylte through a dangerous and magical land. Our heroine’s life becomes complicated when she encounters Tristan and discovers a new quest at the fabled Mirrored Lake. Danger lurks around every corner for the couple in the murky forest, and they must rely on one another to survive it all.
Author Jennifer Ivy Walker has a tall order to deliver a superb middle volume in The Wild Rose and the Sea Raven trilogy, and boy does she deliver in this darkly delicious, passionate, and spellbinding tale of lovers caught up in a dangerous quest. Knowing the classic legends of Arthur and Tristan and Isolde, it was wonderful to see the storylines entwined in an original way that highlights new elements and potential for the characters that I’d never considered before, especially in the guise of Issylte and her empowering central role in the tale. I enjoyed the craftsmanship of the dialogue, which felt authentic enough to the medieval fantasy feel of the tale but was also accessible and modern in its humor and attitude. Overall, I would highly recommend The Lady of the Mirrored Lake to fans of exciting paranormal fiction with dark twists and passionate romance aplenty. An unmissable read for the genre.
