The Invisible Riptide is a children's picture book about the importance of paying attention to and talking about our feelings. Many of us are troubled by the odd feelings we sometimes feel in our belly and head because we don't understand or know what causes them. And that's where Carron Montgomery's book comes in handy. It follows Stella as she tries to understand why she feels like she does. Stella thinks something's wrong with her, yet her mother assures her that she is okay. However, Stella keeps feeling a swirling-whirling in her belly. Fortunately, she finds out that even her friends sometimes feel that way. Now Stella knows her feelings are real and is determined to discover what is causing them. Thus, she talks to a therapist, Ms. Tina, who helps her make sense of these feelings.

The Invisible Riptide is filled with stunning illustrations and age-appropriate knowledge on anxiety, emotional safety, emotional validation, and meaningful connections. Carron Montgomery encourages young people to talk about and listen to their feelings and empowers them to overcome worries, stress, and fear. This amazing book comes with practical tools to help kids describe their feelings and prepare them for change when dealing with any major transition. It also allows children to calm their bodies and minds when anxiety takes over. It's a must-have book for children, parents, teachers, or other caregivers to help kids identify what makes them anxious, to be more resilient and confident, and to understand that it's okay to feel worried, sad, mad, or alone. It's also a perfect gift for any family working through change.
