The Intertidal Adventures of Biogirl MJ by Kong Man Jing and Raye Ng is a beautiful comic book starring Biogirl MJ and her cat, Qwerty, or Professor Qwerty, as she prefers to be called. The story begins at their favorite beach as they observe how the tide is much lower than before. Qwerty thinks a tide ghost causes this, but Biogirl MJ knows the truth and reveals it to us. This is only the first of the discoveries we will make together with them, and many more will follow after finding a bottle containing a map. Biogirl MJ and Qwerty are about to arrive at their first island. Are you ready to follow them to this and other islands where you will discover different marine environments?
The Intertidal Adventures of Biogirl MJ is the book I wanted as a child to discover the marine ecosystem. Kong Man Jing and Raye Ng have written a fantastic story that you will read with pleasure. The fact that it is a comic book makes it even more enjoyable. The illustrations are by Alan Bay. I liked that there are in-depth explanations of concepts and photos to show young readers natural environments and animals. This way, the authors can help younger readers understand the importance of protecting places and creatures. I hope youngsters will read it carefully; this book is suitable for reading at home and as an educational tool at school.
