The Hut in the Woods by VLZ is a spine-chilling thriller. Carly Ruth Laden is young, beautiful, and she has everything – a doting family, a wonderful protective brother, and a husband that other women would kill for. But there’s something wrong – Carly believes that her husband, Dorian, is cheating on her and that their marriage is falling apart. The truth is much worse. Carly makes the decision to confront Dorian to discover the truth, but then she disappears. Her family is left to pick up the pieces, to deal with the awful chain of events that is now set in motion. With a serial killer on the loose as well, can anything ever be the same again? Will Carly be found safe and sound, or has the unthinkable happened?
The Hut in the Woods by VLZ was a cracking good read. This is one of those stories guaranteed to draw any reader in right from the start, and it won’t let go. I found it very difficult to put it down, needing to know what was going to happen next and, with plenty of twists and turns, some of them very dark, it was an edge-of-the-seat thriller. The plot was excellent, incredibly well-written and flowing smoothly from one scene to the next while the characters were really well developed. This is the kind of story that has you falling into it, feeling as though you are there with them, living the story as it happens, and that, together with a compelling plot, is a winning combination for me. This is a great book for those who want something to get their teeth into.
