I must admit, I am a part of that demographic that the NFL seems to be highly covetous of. The focus of many marketing dollars, special colored jerseys, even encouraging the league to recognize breast cancer awareness month in October of every year by having players sport hot pink accessories to their manly uniforms; yes, I am one of the growing numbers of female football fans. But I’m not a new convert, I’ve been following football since I was a little girl sitting on my living room floor at my dad’s feet, peppering him with questions about the fundamentals of the game, stats, and the players themselves. So when I saw The Future of Football by Czonko Bezrski, Jr., I just knew I had to pick it up.

Giving the reader an authentic insider’s view into football's past, present and future, The Future of Football does a complete and thorough job of describing the evolution of the quarterback. From a once relatively stationary and pass-heavy position, author Bezrski describes the need for the person in the quarterback position to become a multi-threat player, able to run, hustle, and pretty much do anything he can to lead the team and win the game.

I found this book to be highly enjoyable, a quick read full of personal experiences and enough insider information that I often felt like I was right on the field with the team. The Future of Football is a book that would be enjoyed by anyone who loves football or would like to get a better understanding of the direction the game may being going, whether the reader is male or female. I recommend this book, and look forward to seeing what author Czonko Bezrski, Jr. has in store for his readers next.

The Future of Football by Czonko Bezrski Jr. is an account of some of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the NFL, both past and present, that basically do their thinking outside the box, or in this case, the pocket. Some of the most electrifying QBs to ever play the game, from Fran Tarkenton and Roger Staubach to Russell Wilson, and Colin Kaepernick. The author even tells of his own exploits as a playmaking quarterback in his youth. He relates how, because of his dominance, the league made a rule that the person taking the snap could not run with the football. Czonko’s father/coach came up with the idea of having more than one quarterback in the backfield. They lined up side by side so that the defense didn’t know who was getting the ball. Either one could hand off or pitch to the other, so that he had to run/pass option. The idea allows for 11 offensive players being involved on the field, rather than 10; meaning the standard drop back passer, that once the ball is in the air, or handed off, his job is done.

Czonko Bezrski. Get it? What a great football name. It sounds like a cross between Larry Czonka, and Bronco Nagurski. Mr. Bezrski gives excellent analyses of how the new range of multi-faceted Qbs in the NFL have added excitement with their unpredictable style of play. Czonko also includes their stats from HS and college, while weaving in his own thrills of victory, bullying coaches, and agonizing injuries that forced him into early retirement from the game he is passionate about. Some of the other players whose careers he highlighted are Cam Newton, RGIII, John Elway, and Michael Vick. I was surprised not to see the likes of Randall Cunningham, Cordell Stewart, and especially Doug Flutie. At the end of his book, he gives his insight relating to the most recent controversy that has dominated the media over the past few months. Creative and entertaining, The Future of Football is up in the air and on the ground.

One of my absolute favorite things is football. Fantasy football, college football, professional football, heck, even the local high school games can be fun to watch. Come fall, it’s football season in my home. That’s why when I saw The Future of Football by author Czonko Bezrski, Jr. I just knew I had to read it. And I was not disappointed. Digging into the new sports phenomenon of the multi-threat running quarterback, The Future of Football is a well-written, well-thought out and fun read for any football or sports fan who enjoys reading and thinking about their favorite sport. Following the true stories of an early ‘running quarterback,’ the book makes you feel as if you are actually on the field, participating in the game play on your own.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Future of Football. Author Czonko Bezrski, Jr. has done a magnificent job in developing a short, fun, quick read that gets the football fan in me really thinking about the past, current, and future role of the quarterback and how that role is sure to develop and change. The Future of Football would definitely appeal to any lover of the game, any sports fan, or anyone interested in reading a great analysis of the sporting arena and drivers for change within that field. I highly recommend The Future of Football and am certainly looking forward to reading anything else author Czonko Bezrski, Jr. might have in store for us in the future.
