The Fun Thieves by Carli Valentine invites you to explore the world of positive thinking and learning to look on the bright side. We have all experienced days when everything feels like it is working against us. In this story, a child narrates such days when the weather and nature act against her. She tries to play with her kite, but it gets stuck in a tree. The wind blows her ball away, and the sun melts her snowman. She gets sick, which ruins her party, and the rain prevents her from playing. She feels like all these elements stole her fun, but with a different attitude, she realizes they also have positive aspects to them.
I enjoyed reading The Fun Thieves because it gave me a new perspective on bad situations and had a valuable lesson for kids and adults. Carli Valentine teaches us that there is always a good side to everything; our only job is to find joy in sad moments. Although the rain may prevent us from playing outdoors, fortunately, it also helps the flowers and trees grow. Apart from the great story, it has beautiful illustrations, ideally suited to children, with attractive colors perfect for grabbing attention. The pictures correspond with the story and clearly show the little girl's anger and, eventually, her joy when she changes her attitude. I loved these tiny details because they distinctly presented the story's message. I recommend parents and caregivers read it with their children and teach each other the importance of having a positive attitude.
