The Exorcism of Adolf Hitler is a work of fiction in the horror, dark paranormal, and suspense subgenres. It is best suited to mature adult readers owing to its dark themes, some sensitive subject areas, and moderate gore and explicit language throughout. Penned by author Connor Gunnin, this chilling supernatural thriller is set against the backdrop of Nazi Germany in 1938. Werner Stengel, a former Catholic priest turned Minister of the Interior, becomes increasingly skeptical of Hitler's rise to power. Suspecting demonic influence, Stengel and his loyal conspirators embark on a dangerous mission to exorcise Hitler and prevent the unfolding of World War II.
Author Connor Gunnin really knows how to craft an atmosphere of horror and suspense, creating a sense of dread that lingers in the background of even the calmest moments of this thrilling tale. The characters, especially Stengel, are well-developed, and their internal struggles are fascinating to explore through some really intuitive speech and thought presentation. Gunnin knows how to encourage readers to read between the lines of the text and emote with the characters without ever spoon-feeding them the story. The exploration of the Nazi occult and the potential demonic possession of Hitler adds a unique and eerie dimension to the plot that gives it real gravitas because of the connections to true history. The blend of horror and historical fiction is also executed masterfully, shocking in places but never gratuitous, making this novel both a thought-provoking and spine-tingling read. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend The Exorcism of Adolf Hitler to fans of fascinating, psychological, and thrill-filled horror everywhere.
