The Drug Invasion of West Africa by Arthur Kobina Kennedy unfolds when a US President and a British Prime Minister decide to launch a “Global War on Drugs”. Indeed, one can expect the inevitable, especially in Africa. The selfish war will change the country forever - the former is seeking re-election and the latter is looking for his place in history. The intriguing story, however, does not end here. It comes full circle in West Africa where a sitting president is under arrest for drug trafficking. This book provides a clear view of the country’s most powerful, and how politics becomes a springboard to fame and power.
In his introduction, author Arthur Kobina Kennedy says that he is concerned about the impact of drug abuse on Africa in general and West Africa in particular. This is an important issue and Kennedy is very passionate about it. He also clearly explains his intention for writing the novel: “This book is an attempt to sound the alarm. It is a work of fiction that explores the impact of drugs in West Africa, the West, the UN, and global governance.” The author creates a very thin line between fact and fiction in his book, creating an undeniably intriguing and eye opening story.
