Lacey St. Sin writes an enchantingly delightful tale full of dragons and wolves. In The Dragon's Slave, Gayriel was abandoned by her parents at a young age to a slave house and grew up learning about ways to please a man. Determined to cast off her shackles (figuratively) she puts her plan in motion, only to be stopped when Dynarys Firestriker walks in and buys her. Sparks fly the instant their eyes meet, but Dynarys has other plans for her than to become lovers. Gayriel is then drawn into the dragon world and soon becomes embroiled in their political game. Can she help them and gain her freedom? Or is there something or someone worth staying for?
This is the first book in the Amber Aerie series and I cannot wait for the next one. Lacey St. Sin's characters came to life for me in the detailed descriptions of the characters, the setting, and of course the insider knowledge of the characters' feelings. Her plot had several surprising twists and gave the story a lot of depth. On the other hand, the romance department could have used a bit more help, but in no way were the sexy tidbits lacking. I felt there could have been more interactions in terms of the main characters, the villainous schemes, and the cast of other characters. Then again, when you have sexy dragons courting you, who are you to argue? I recommend this book for those who love sci-fi/fantasy novels with some romance.
