The Devoured Sons by Seth Daniel Parker envisions a civilization drifting precariously at the edge of disintegration, but this is merely a prelude to the arrival of a disaster known as the Solemn Veil. In the aftermath of this arrival, humanity is ravaged by the catastrophes of radiation, pervasive hunger from food scarcity, the descent into cannibalism, and the death of billions. Salvation is accomplished by a mysterious Benefactor with his legion of Humanara, beings of artificial intelligence designed to be indistinguishable from humans. With these synthetic sentinels, the Benefactor has created a multitude resistant to the relentless scourge of the Solemn Veil. Parker takes us into a future where survivors of the Solemn Veil have surfaced from subterranean refuges to live in thriving city-states provided by the Benefactor. There is a vivid picture of those who enjoy the riches of the fortunate Artificial Intelligent guardians and the servitude of the sentinels.

Seth Daniel Parker skillfully describes artificial intelligence as an outcome of mankind's ingenuity. In his powerful portrayal, we witness the creation of an intellect that transcends the boundaries of our mortal capacities. Parker harnesses reason, logic, and algorithmic orchestration to decode the enigma of existence. He has fashioned an artificial intelligence to counter the tapestry of spontaneity, folly, and chaos of the irrational mind. He succeeds in adeptly describing the unbounded potential of AI to alter the course of human history. The Devoured Sons is an astounding union of humanity, legend, and technology. Parker’s story is a relevant addition to today’s discussions of AI and is an entertaining and very enjoyable read.
