The Deliverers 2: Order of the Crystal Lion by Gregory S. Slomba is a great read for those who love high fantasy full of battles and adventures. I really enjoyed the tale and the telling. It is a clean, wholesome tale of fantasy and travel. The author creates a refreshing theme of good versus evil, with an unexpected ending.
Eric lost his father more than a year ago and his mother is worried that he needs a male figure in his life. The problem is that asking Uncle Rocco to include him in his male activities, which include his kid’s hockey team, is not the answer. He is miserable and doesn’t know what to do to get his mother off his back. That is, until he is sent with his friends Kate, Hallo, and the owl Stig, by the Gatekeeper, to stop a war in a different world. There they are imprisoned, attacked, and they have to defend themselves. This causes a lot of mixed feelings for Eric when he kills a soldier. They join the revolution between Lion-men and the pure blood humans. They choose the side of the rebels and soon it becomes clear to them that they may be wrong. But then, how are they to bring peace between the two sides if everyone has their own agenda? This may be the toughest assignment yet.
You will enjoy the characters and the things that make them so different from each other. This book will become the favorite of many kids, preteens, and young adults.
