The Deliverers 4: Sparkling Mist of Time by Gregory S. Slomba tells the story of Eric, whose fourteenth birthday takes a dramatic turn when he is summoned by the Gatekeeper, an entity who tries to protect the Hallway of the Worlds. Eric and his friends from the previous missions learn that a mysterious figure is gathering matter from failed worlds to build his own. As he heads back to the past with a sinister plan, Eric and his team must stop him, at any cost, from causing instability and eventual destruction by changing history. If they fail, Eric’s world and the worlds they have saved before will disintegrate, which may threaten the entire universe.

Gregory S. Slomba’s The Deliverers 4: Sparkling Mist of Time is an enjoyable, fast-paced story. The length of the chapters makes it suitable for young readers, especially reluctant ones. I love the four main characters and the bond they share; their teamwork is one of the most remarkable aspects of the story. Besides, their vulnerabilities made them quite believable to me. Although I have not read any of the other three books in the series, I could easily follow the story as Gregory provided certain information wherever necessary without overwhelming me at any point. I also like that he shows how different people from across time and space share many things in common and how these emotions and experiences are integral parts of human lives. I would recommend the book to readers aged eight to ten.
