Super cute! How could you not pick up a book with this fun title? The Day My Fart Followed Me Home hits all marks of childhood silliness. Authors Ben Jackson and Sam Lawrence begin a unique tale with Timmy, whose little fart follows him home from school. The little fart believes that they are friends, but Timmy does not want anyone to see the disgusting thing, nor does he want them to smell it. A child will absolutely adore the budding of the unlikely friendship, both in the way Timmy is in a panic about the situation, and in the cuteness of his little green pal. Timmy eventually comes around, but only at the persistence of his friend, who is optimistic and pleasant, and everything a fart should NOT be. The overall tone is fun and will work for children who have a silly side.
As an adult reader, I was really enthusiastic about the friendship of the unlikely pair and the theme of the book. Also, the illustrations worked perfectly with the story, and the reading is simple enough for the intended audience. The Day My Fart Followed Me Home should be a welcome addition to any children’s library and will provide both adults and children with a good laugh around bedtime or any time of the day. Authors Ben Jackson and Sam Lawrence have zoomed in on normal childhood embarrassments and curiosities and made a complete story about it, including a theme of friendship. I recommend the story to children and know it will be a cherished book for many.
