In “The Corruption of Innocence”, written by Lori St. John, readers will follow the battle to stop the execution of an innocent man. The author was a practicing CPA when she felt the calling to study law. Her field of expertise is as a defense attorney. Before returning to school she was involved in volunteer work which led to the story found in this book. Lori St. John’s power and fortitude drew international support for her cause. Both the Pope and Sister Teresa offered their support. Joe was convicted of rape and murder; he awaited his execution. However, he had a driving force on his side, Lori St. John. Working as a volunteer, Lori was assigned Joe’s case. A corrupt judicial system filled with deceit, coercion, and an entrapment are just part of the corruption she uncovered. The powers that be did not want to be exposed and soon Lori found her own life in danger. Not even threats could stop Lori from exposing the injustice of Joe’s conviction. She found that the only way to prove Joe’s innocence and save his life was to find the real killer.
“The Corruption of Innocence” is an incredible story. I eagerly turned the pages unable to stop reading until I read the very last word. The author’s fight to save Joseph Roger O Dell III, a death row inmate convicted of killing a secretary from Virginia Beach, went all the way to Italy where the Parliament gave the inmate a standing ovation. Lori St. John is a talented author. She drew me into her story. I felt as if I were standing behind her assisting in her battle. This is an incredible read; don’t miss it.
