Get ready to be swept away in a fun, funny, fun-filled story of young romance. The Boyfriend Whisperer 2.0 by Linda Budzinski is a great example of clean YA fiction for all ages. When Alicea Springer is blind sided with a break up from the love of her life, she is determined to convince him of his mistake. She is his perfect match and she will go to any extremes in convincing him of that. Creator of Libby, a computer program that scientifically matches individuals to their appropriate love interest, Alicea goes against all moral thought and breaks her own rules by hacking into Ty’s Libby survey for guidance in winning him back. But while Alicea is busy with her own scheming, Grand View High’s resident “bad boy” - Darius Groves - is worming his own way into her heart. Is he her perfect match?
Linda Budzinski sets aside any misconceptions of young adult romance in The Boyfriend Whisperer 2.0. Adolescent insecurities and teenage innocence are highlighted in this delightful story relevant to the existence of first love. While Alicea attempts to manipulate her own fate, readers will find themselves silently screaming for her to open her eyes to the obvious answer before her. Budzinski’s characters are realistic in their ideas of popularity and acceptance. A valuable lesson of tolerance is evident within the pages of The Boyfriend Whisperer 2.0. I am anxious to read more by Linda Budzinski and will enthusiastically share her name with all the young readers I know. With an effective balance of “drama” and sincerity, Budzinski offers a realistic image of teenage life.
