The Boy And The Sea by Alkahera Sabag Abed Alhai is a short children's story that involves a boy named Ameen who sat at the edge of the sea and wondered why it could not speak. To his surprise, the sea began to speak and Ameen wondered why they could not play together the way he played with other friends. The sea was interested in being friends with Ameen, and the story goes on to explain various ways the sea plays with his other friends.

While reading this story to my daughter, I became concerned that she would want to play with the sea at our next beach outing, so it was important to make her understand that water is very dangerous and she should never venture off to play with the sea the way Ameen did because she is unable to swim. The analogy of the wave chasing Ameen was very visual, and the way Ameen ran from the waves and how the sea chased him was a great way to show the way the two played.

This story gave a good visualization of the sea, but could have used some warnings that the sea is dangerous to young children and they should only play in the sea with a parent. Alkahera Sabag Abed Alhai did a good job of creating a different children's story by using the sea, sun, and other unusual elements that you don't normally see within a children's story.
