The Backyard Adventures of Anna and Andy Hummingbird is an adventure of two young, curious siblings, who have just hatched and are seeing the world for the first time. Part of a series, this book is an anthology of ten short stories divided into chapters. They play games and learn how to deal with the Bully Brothers. Anna and Andy learn valuable lessons on how to deal with other birds, including a sparrow, a dove, and the Bully Brothers, two larger hummingbirds who seem to take control of the feeder. Author Linda P. Young has been watching hummingbirds in her backyard for over 20 years. She’s observed hundreds of baby hummingbirds hatch, explore, and grow, so she’s become an expert on the comical shenanigans or relationships of a hummingbird. The beautiful, well-drawn artwork uses bold color to illustrate the playful antics of the two youngsters. The images are well executed and display human-like emotions. Add a harrowing experience and you have an exciting story of survival.
