The Ant Chant: The Magical Power of Determination is a children’s book, written in rhyme by Michal Y. Noah and illustrated by Favreaa. One beautiful sunny day, a young ant decides against playing as there is too much work that needs to be done. First, she hunts for food, singing as she walks. Her singing and chanting are what motivate her to get more done. Facing every single challenge in her life with a smile, the ant’s combination of glee and determination ensures that she always reaches her daily goals. On finding an assortment of foods, she happily carries them to her home, one by one, regardless that they are much bigger than she is. The ant continues to sing and chant while on her merry way, getting all of her work done before she decides that it is time to play.
Michal Noah’s upbeat and positive book about the advantages of getting work done early and out of the way, before heading off to have fun, is a great book for children. Not only does it promote great time management at an early age, but it also shows children that keeping a positive and happy attitude, even if it means singing your favorite song or making up a chanting rhyme while you work, will make the time go faster and may even introduce a steady stream of fun and well-being into what you are doing. The rhyming throughout the book is clever and is brought to life with the colorful illustrations provided, which complement the story so beautifully. I enjoyed The Ant Chant: The Magical Power of Determination and recommend it be stocked in all home and kindergarten libraries so that children can enjoy this magical tale again and again.
