The American Deluge by Uri Norwich is a political thriller. There’s a new President in the White House. Before he was sworn in, he snuck in and sat in the Oval Office and tried to feel as though he belonged. The exiting President visited him and pointed out one particular phone on the desk. He told the new President he would never want to hear it ring and then he left. Before the new President was even a gleam in his mother’s eye, someone else had been given a choice between living two lives. The road he chose to take would affect every living being on the planet. Behind him, he left murder, and ruin. He could have chosen the winning lottery numbers, but he opted to take on Wall Street instead – his prize for surviving hell. That man is in town now, less than a mile away from The White House. The American people thought they knew who was in power – they didn’t. That night the phone rang and life would never be the same again.
The American Deluge by Uri Norwich was a gripping read, one that I couldn’t put down. The story was something original and was written in a very engaging manner, in language that was easy to grasp and follow, yet the story was anything but straightforward, with a few twists and turns that kept me hanging on until I got to the end. The characters were well thought out and it is clear that a great deal of energy and thought has gone into this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to more of the same.
