Ancient Sumerians living among us? Maybe a possibility in The Agency: Tablet of Destinies by Lynn Yvonne Moon. A whole nation with a rich and ancient culture living beneath the sandy deserts of Iran with ancient alien technology – impossible? For a long time, people have speculated about the ancient Sumerians and the etchings and writings found that indicate space ships and giants. Now 300 passengers on a train in Michigan have disappeared. An agent with albinism and a young graduate on a first assignment both have special skills and knowledge to help Agent Devon Arvol find the missing 300 as well as explain what happened to them. The Agency, a secret part of the FBI, has its hands full as some fanatics believe in a theory that our gods came from outer space and might return for the bloodline they left behind. Geneticists playing god in laboratories and an Army commander with a conscience and a daughter threatened by some unknown individual form part of the diverse characters pulled together by one big theory of where we come from.
Lovers of conspiracy theories and the supernatural will enjoy The Agency: Tablet of Destinies by Lynn Yvonne Moon. It is a big puzzle that you want to solve and the many pieces are given to you one at a time. The characters are believable and one can feel their emotions and frustrations as they race against time and struggle against an unseen puppet master. Motivations of many of the characters' actions are explained as the story develops and leave you with that aha moment—so that is how they fit into the story. The theme of genetic manipulation brings one face to face with what the possibilities can be if unscrupulous people are in possession of the finances and resources to bring it to fruition. Add to this the whole debate around religion - is the one true God that Christians believe in real, or is it a lie that has been told from before homo sapiens existed? Are the theories of an ancient alien civilization visiting earth and creating man possible? These themes are touched upon in The Agency and make it a good work of fiction.
