His other creative endeavors include a stint as a puppeteer and performing magic at Disneyland. His passion lies in exploring the peculiarities in human behavior through imaginative storytelling.

Behind The Fun Zone is Book 4 in Bruce Edwards' young adult fantasy series, The Age of Amy. Amy's best friend, Fred, is terrified of water, but still he agrees to go out in a paddle boat with her on Summit Lake. Amy and Fred have been friends forever, and she really thinks of him as a boyfriend, but for some reason he just won't make the moves that a boyfriend would. While they're out paddling, they float past the Fun Zone, an amusement park that's sat abandoned and desolate overlooking the water for many years now. Both of them would have loved to have seen it when it was in its heyday instead of the derelict ramshackle reality of its present state. Their conversations touch more and more, however, on the Jimmie device that's taken the public by storm. The device is easily and safely implanted in your brain, and there seems to be no end to the amazing applications that have been created for it. Fred's got one and he loves it, but Amy's not so sure.
Bruce Edwards' young adult contemporary fantasy, The Age of Amy: Behind The Fun Zone, is the fourth book in this entertaining and original series. Amy becomes a sleuth in this tale as she tries to find out why teens with Jimmie implants are disappearing. It gets personal when her cousin and Fred are among the missing. While I'm quite fond of my tech devices, and usually have at least two or three diminutive computers with me wherever I am, I'm on Amy's side on the issue of brain implantation of computing devices. I enjoyed the action and adventure in Behind the Fun Zone as Amy and Zac, her underage admirer from school, attempt to penetrate the Fun Zone and rescue the Jimmie-heads. Edwards gives the reader something to think about in this fantasy that points out the dangers inherent in technology, and his specter of a commercially based totalitarianism is properly spooky. Fans of Arthur C. Clarke will also get a kick out of the author's clever homage to one of Clarke's more popular works. The Age of Amy: Behind The Fun Zone is recommended.
