In The Adventures of Joanie and Juliet: Unlock the Joy of World Travel for Children by Rishawna L. Gould, Joanie and Juliet are not only sisters but the best of friends. Moreover, it turns out that one of these sisters has a unique way in which to travel while asleep, and she doesn’t hesitate to take her little sister with her on a grand adventure to Italy. You will want to join them as they visit some of the famous landmarks in Italy. You will be tempted by some of the delicious food they eat along the way. Plus, they make new friends and get a chance to learn the Italian word for the name of a game that many children play all the time.
I found Rishawna Gould’s The Adventures of Joanie and Juliet to be quite an interesting take on time travel for two very beautiful sisters. Once these sisters begin their adventure, they are limited only by their imaginations. It is their bright, colorful, and happy imaginations that make this book such a wonderful reading experience for children. In addition, the drawings by D.G. are vivid and full of sensations such as seeing, hearing, feeling, tasting, and smelling all the good things that these two young people encounter on their adventure in Italy. The great part is that once you start the adventure with these sisters, you can almost forget the subtle and surprising way in which it all began. My thanks to the author for this entertaining and lighthearted children’s story.
