Terminal is written in collaboration with 30 extraordinary Cancer Honoree Alums, their caregivers, and family members. Author Sandra Gunn reveals their emotions and despair. Readers will redefine their priorities, values, and significance of their lives as they learn the impact of being diagnosed with S4 cancer. The patients worry about a lot more than just the disease. Relationships, finances, work, what to do with possessions, and who will look after their loved ones are just some of their challenges. They have to create a “new normal” as what used to be considered as “normal” no longer exists. Apart from the patients consoling themselves, they also must console their loved ones. One of the most important lessons is for patients to educate themselves – do not put your life into someone else’s hands before doing thorough research.

As a cancer survivor, reading this book brought back many memories of feeling hopeless and worthless. Living with, surviving, or succumbing to cancer is not a one-person job; it takes a team of dedicated people, “all belonging to a club that nobody wants to join”. Our timeline changes from dates to “before cancer or after cancer”. Such is the significance of this dreaded disease. I am grateful for the explanations of various cancer terminologies, types of cancer, and options for treatment. Both interesting and educational. Terminal is superbly written, well researched, beautifully illustrated, and includes heartfelt poems. I would recommend this book to every adult whether or not they have been touched by cancer or any terminal illness.
