Henry Wong’s Telling Your Story, Building Your Brand might be the Bible of branding. Wong’s narrative provides tiny lightning bolts of clarity; with those lightning bolts, he finds a way to speak to readers with a helping hand perspective. It does not do the work for you, but provides a firm grasp that lifts you, helps you land, and points you in the right direction. That is what people behind brands or in the process of building a brand need; they need someone who has been there, and Wong is that person.
Telling Your Story, Building Your Brand showcases one of Henry Wong’s many great abilities as a writer, and that is his ability to simplify. On page 61, Wong writes, “The story is very much like a sculpture…Your own two-sentence narrative needs to start with its own big piece of marble.” It is a smart resource that readers will be able to comprehend and glean as much from as Harvard and MIT professors; a tremendous feat. To be able to create a volume of knowledge that everyone can readily and eagerly absorb is just the kind of gift Wong possesses. He feeds readers his personal experiences, strengthening the author-to-reader connection, and provides knowledge gained over decades in the world of branding. Telling Your Story, Building Your Brand is a masterpiece you should not miss.
