Tattooed by Grief: A Faith-Based Approach to Helping Youth Impacted by Loss by Cari Zorno is a book that will help readers face one of the devastating emotions and realities so common today: grief. This book explores the psychology of loss and the anatomy of grief in a compelling and accessible way, offering a fresh take on the journey towards healing for young readers. The author states that loss affects different people in different ways, and while it can be easy for some to move past their pain, others can get stuck with the loss. In this book, young people who are grieving will understand what they need to do and how to respond to their pain, and mature people will understand how to speak to young people who are suffering from loss.
Cari Zorno’s writing is fluid and very accessible, filled with insights and lessons that will transform the lives of those who are grieving and give them the support they need on the journey towards healing. The book contains biblical references that help to articulate answers to some of the questions young readers grapple with. The author uses images and examples to pass the message across. For instance, the author uses the following comparison to capture the sense of grief: “A death is like a pebble tossed into a pond, the ripples of grief continue outward affecting dozens and sometimes even hundreds of youth.” Tattooed by Grief: A Faith-Based Approach to Helping Youth Impacted by Loss is a well-crafted, inspiring, and informative book that offers readers a powerful tool and companion on the path of healing from grief.
