In Tango Guitar Method, Guillermo Marigliano explains the Argentinian style to guitarists who are familiar with their instrument. The author explains to readers that they can play the music as a solo piece or accompany a singer. Before attempting this style, Marigliano prefers the student to have knowledge of “rhythmic notation, time signatures, basic scales, bar chords, and tablature.” With sheets of music within the chapters, readers can learn the character and feel of the music while recognizing possible variations and substitutions. Marigliano provides personal recommendations of recordings and expresses his hopes for the book.
As with any style of music, the artist should develop an appreciation for it, and with a little hard work, guitarists can use Guillermo Marigliano’s book to perfect their style. The book is easy to read and covers what you’ll need to know to play the Tango successfully. Marigliano holds a Professional Guitar Degree and is a guitarist, composer, and producer. Also, he has taught in colleges and music organizations for over two decades, so readers can feel confident in the book's content and the level of instruction. My husband played the music from some pages, and I was impressed by the feeling the music stirred. Just like the dances that pair with the songs, the Argentinian Tango differs from a regular ballroom Tango. The melody reflects a beautiful heritage, illustrating the bond that shaped Argentinian culture and society. Readers who are ready to play the Argentinian Tango will enjoy the approach and material in Tango Guitar Method.
