Synapse by Mark Walton is a visionary book at the intersection of science and Scripture, spelling out hidden meanings of biblical passages. Walton offers insight into spiritual and physical worlds, and discusses areas like spiritual disconnection, redemption, reunification, and symbolic interpretations like barley, wheat, and the significance of 11:11. Walton also addresses resurrection, spiritual gifts, and biblical keys that all meld with science, art, and society. He promotes deeper Scripture analysis, emphasizing humility, mercy, and redemption through Christ, and stresses that the Bible's coherence and depth suggest divine involvement. Synapse spans topics from mankind as a symbolically marked beast to the thinning of the spiritual veil, hinging on a diverse perspective on creation, drawing on a breadth of influences to encourage renewed look and interpretation of the Bible.

A lot of writers court controversy. Mark Walton practically marries it in Synapse: Lost in the Gap. By breaching custom with concepts like an unconventional view of UFOs as biblical entities connected to the heavenly host, and interpreting the purpose of the Law as a means to increase transgressions to invite more grace, Walton daringly contradicts the spectrum of collective religious understanding. How the Bible works in contemporary life is endorsed by things like Walton's section on Christ-inspired tattoos and their spiritual significance, pointing to Galatians 6:17: "From now on let no one cause trouble for me, for I bear on my body the brand-marks of Jesus." Walton's outlook on biblical teachings and bold readiness to push the envelope make Synapse a significant contribution to religious studies, marking Walton as a visionary in his field.

In I Corinthians 2:7, Paul plainly states that he speaks in mysteries. Mark Walton takes on the daunting task of delving into the great mysteries hidden in the Bible in Synapse: Lost in the Gap. This book explains the twelve layers of interpretation of the various stories found in the Bible. One of the things to watch out for is the things not said. His other two books, The Calling and The Cipher, taught this. The main message found in the Scriptures is the need to give and receive forgiveness. Using the things in creation, Mark relates the spiritual to the physical. He discusses how the Bible tells about the periodic table and the days of creation in general. This book adheres to the creation days of periods and not as twenty-four-hour days. Synapse also explains how numbers relate the physical to the spiritual. This book will cause you to think and look at life and the Bible in a new light.

Building on Mark Walton’s belief that the Scriptures are purposely difficult to understand, he continues to explain the more profound mysteries of the Bible. In Synapse, Mark acknowledges that some of his teachings are complex. However, he believes when studied in connection with the deeper meaning of the Bible, they become more apparent and begin to make sense. One of his teachings that many conservative Christians will probably disagree with is his belief that everybody will be saved. Mark’s writing is sometimes difficult to follow, but readers can reread and understand his intentions. This book is exciting and will make the reader think. If you are interested in how the spiritual correlates with the physical, this book is for you.

Synapse: Lost in the Gap by Mark Walton builds on the previous two books (The Calling and The Cipher) and reveals God's fingerprint in everything and anything remaining. When we think of scripture, we only think of spirituality, human life, and the best way to live. However, author Mark Walton shares how there is a lot more to the Bible than just living a wholesome life. He traces through the evidence of science as a whole and different branches of it as well. Mark Walton shares his understanding of how the Bible touches every aspect of our lives, such as music, math, science, medicine, the human body, and more profound aspects such as spirituality.

I was glad to have found this book more than anything else. The way author Mark Walton explained Synapse was profound and clear. Mark did much research, which is apparent in this collection's cohesiveness. Each chapter had complete information, and I felt I gained more knowledge than just reading someone's thoughts on a topic. The narrative style was perfect. It was as if I was listening to a beloved professor who was an expert in his field. As someone always fascinated by scripture, I was blown away by the amount of information the Bible had stored in its heart, just waiting for someone to open it and share it. Mark Walton makes sure none of his readers leave empty-handed. He shared his findings with facts and ensured his readers understood God's words better.

Synapse: Lost in the Gap is a work of non-fiction in the Christian writing, theology, and spiritual subgenres. It is best suited to the general adult reading audience and was penned by author Mark Walton. In this analytical and enlightening treatise, the author conveys his devotion and dedication to studying God and Christianity by exploring the connections between the scientific, artistic, and biblical worlds. From patterns in nature to the periodic table, this book explores and evidences Bible terms and extracts that are deeply connected to our current world, thereby purporting concrete proof of the existence of God. The work goes on to explore the ‘gaps’ in the spiritual system where angels inhabit this ethereal, in-between space.

Author Mark Walton offers much for the theological mind to explore and discuss in this interesting book, and I think it would make a great thinking piece in various Christian groups and perhaps introductory groups like Alpha courses. It’s clear that the author is passionate about faith and the existence of God, and his narrative style exudes this keen enthusiasm but also manages to remain balanced, clear, and accessible no matter where your starting point with theology may be. The organization of the work was crisp and clear, with plenty of well-evidenced and apt biblical material and other sources ready to be easily referenced when having conversations after reading. Overall, Synapse: Lost in the Gap is a work where Christians, scientists, and artists alike can find much to think about and explore their own approach to spirituality and God. A valuable thinking tool indeed.
