My life is filled with words & great food. Sweet Emotions is a book created by me off the emotions that my mother's cooking & love for cooking & sharing it with others would bring. I hope everything within the covers of this book to bring those sweet emotions. When you would enjoy a great meal, you get an unbelievable rush & can't wait for the next plate. That is what my mother's food brought & I hope my word to do the same.

Inspired by his mother's love of cooking and her delicious meals, Sweet Emotions is a moving poetry collection by Kevin Bates. The poems in this book are divided into six sections, each named after a different meal. "Brighter Tomorrow" urges us to let go of our pride and embrace the future with hope and faith for a better tomorrow. "A Picnic of Love" recounts the journey of two lovers who profess their love for each other on an unforgettable trip. "Action" sheds light on the systematic discrimination faced by members of the black community from government institutions in the United States. "Like Ali" is about refusing to back down and facing your nemesis head-on. "Cry for You" is a moving poem where the narrator empathizes with an abuse victim and calls for justice against their abuser.
