Swamped! by Ingrid Sawubona is an exciting picture book about a little animal named Hershel who lives in a swamp. One day, Hershel decides that he doesn't like living in the swamp. He wants to live where there is no moss and no slime. He packs his bags and floats his house away from the swamp, leaving many of his friends behind. But the going isn't easy. He faces many obstacles along the way. Will Hershel ever find a nice place for his house?
I really enjoyed Swamped! by Ingrid Sawubona. The book is very funny and exciting. The book is also very inspirational. Hershel is a likeable character, because he is determined and, no matter what happens, he will not be deterred. I liked how that even though the journey was rough, Hershel eventually gets somewhere where he can live his life without moss and slime. It was nice to know that Hershel had a happy ending, because he is such a likeable character. The illustrations by Ingrid Sawubona are beautiful and simple, and depict the story very well. The book is well-written. I liked how sometimes the type curved and swirled. I liked how the story rhymed. It was very well done. I would recommend Swamped! by Ingrid Sawubona to all young readers.
