Suicide Season: House of Von Aster Book 1 follows Eliseo La Favre and his long journey in the new and dark world he was thrust into by his devilish counterpart, Jakobe. Jakobe revels in every sinful pleasure he wants as long as he has La Favre by his side. However, Eliseo isn’t quite accustomed to his new world, even after a good century. He clings to a small part of his humanity which leads the two beings of the night into unprecedented circumstances. When faced with tough times, Jakobe is forced to protect what he considers to be the only thing other than himself that he truly cares for. This suicide season turns out to be nothing like the two have ever experienced before but it may be for the best.
Yolanda Olson’s Suicide Season is a fresh take on supernatural classics such as vampires and werewolves while still staying true to their original characteristics. Olson draws the reader into this dark and mysterious world in which creatures of the night rule as they please. You can’t help but become immersed in Jakobe and Eliseo’s complex relationship and wonder at the mysteries that lie in their very being. Suicide Season has the makings of the next cult favorite with its unique take on the supernatural and endearing cast of characters. I found myself loving not only the main characters but the supporting characters as well. This book definitely leaves you wanting more as soon as you finish it and I easily finished it in a few hours.
