In this book, Shan King talks about her own experiences in school, college, as well as higher studies, and how she went from an average student in academics to someone who got A’s in university. This book is written for students to teach and encourage them to adopt certain study methods, mindsets, and attitudes that would help them to not only succeed and do well in their college or university but also enable them to think long-term about their future job and career prospects and succeed in their chosen profession as well. The book is divided into many chapters such as an introduction to the subject and the author herself, who this book is meant for and how it should be used, how to focus on the end goal and work accordingly, time management, various rules for success, executing and implementing the plan, methods for exam preparation, and much more. There are also several short exercises throughout the book designed to help the reader to improve.
Study Smart, Everyone Can Get an A at University by Shan King is a relevant book in any era and especially right now in America when education is sometimes taken for granted. On the other hand, there are also lots of students who really want to do well and succeed but are stuck in a pattern of low grades or mediocrity. This book will help them tremendously to learn some study habits, techniques, and the self-discipline needed to follow through such as restricting the use of online browsing time for leisure, etc. Shan writes in a helpful, collaborative style that is encouraging to the reader. This book will surely be helpful to any academic student in any field.
