Rosie Russell’s Storytime with Stella and Friends invites young readers on a delightful journey with Stella, a girl who adores reading to her toy companions. When her friends grow tired of hearing the same stories, Stella devises a clever plan: they will create a brand new story together. This book is a wonderful blend of humor, imagination, and meaningful lessons as Stella and her friends brainstorm a charming adventure about Princess Patti, who encounters unexpected challenges in a daisy-filled meadow. With a helpful guide to storytelling basics included, the book not only entertains but also provides children with the tools to craft their stories.
I truly appreciated the creativity and simplicity of Storytime with Stella and Friends. The story unfolds at a brisk pace, quickly transitioning from Stella’s idea to the completion of their tale. This fast tempo keeps young readers hooked and prevents any feelings of boredom. With its emphasis on collaboration and problem-solving, the book is both engaging and educational. Stella’s interactions with her toy friends bring the characters to life. Stella is depicted as a book-lover, while her toy friends each display a single defining trait (like Benny Bear's love for action and Dolly Dolly's tendency to be easily frightened). The subplot featuring Princess Patti is lighthearted and relatable, gently imparting lessons on perseverance and kindness. Rosie Russell’s warm and accessible writing style makes this book a perfect introduction to storytelling for young minds. It’s an enjoyable and inspiring read that encourages children to unleash their creativity.
