Stop Not Writing: A No B.S. Guide to Avoid the Avoidance Tricks of a Non-writing Writer is the perfect guide to developing as a good writer. B. J. Thompson begins by relating her personal experiences because she bases her advice on them. She continues by explaining how we must find time because that is a barrier that inhibits many writers. She then focuses on more concrete topics such as researching the subject matter. Thompson also motivates you to resume abandoned projects. She helps you overcome the most common problems, such as fear when starting to write or dealing with criticism. At the end of each section, Thompson adds exercises to practice what you've learned. She is frank in explaining that in the beginning learning to be a writer is complicated. The tips she shares will help many aspirant writers. This guide will make you feel proud to be a writer.
B. J. Thompson explains that she feels like a friend motivating you to continue. She provides activities that any beginner can follow without difficulty. More experienced writers can also benefit from the information in this book. One of my favorite sections was the Troubleshoot Chat. In that, the author summarizes solutions to a variety of common problems experienced by authors. Being a good writer means sacrificing time and knowing how to set priorities. You also have to avoid being afraid of criticism, and this factor is clearly explained. I enjoyed reading about this because objective criticism is something that can help us the most to improve our work. Stop Not Writing is the book that will inspire you to complete your writing projects professionally.
